Bonginkosi Dlamini professionaly known as Zola is a Multi-disciplinary South African Artist.  He is known by millenials from the Telelvision Hit Series “Yizo Yizo”. That’s when he gained his popularity granting him a space in the entertainment scene. He later on started a heartwarming TV show called “Zola 7”, which is how he got intoduced to the Generation Z & this allowed him to be a household name to many.
Listening to Zola’s album “IBUTHO”, inspired me to craft this illustration. With songs like the “Intro” and “Ubelapho (T-shirt)” it made me realise how we as South African’s are stuck in a cycle of poverty and we are in need of strong and forward thinking leaders.
This illustration is inspired by Zola’s intro to the album. On this intro he was explaining his encounters with people as they confided in him about their struggles. The illustration is my imagination of what the day looked like when he was walking down the street and having these encounter with his locals.
